Role of the Town of Hempstead Local Workforce Investment Board
According to the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Statute (Public Law 105-220), the Role of Local the Workforce Investment Board (LWIB ) is follows:
•Coordinate workforce investment activities with economic development strategies
•Develop employer linkages with workforce investment and economic development activities
•Promote the participation of private sector employers in the statewide workforce investment system
•Connecting, brokering and coaching activities, through intermediaries, such as the One-Stop Operator (HempsteadWorks), or other organizations, to assist employers in meeting hiring needs
